Important recognition for Vittorio Giannetti, assistant professor in Aerospace Propulsion from the new research area in Space Technologies at the Institute of Mechanical Intelligence of the Sant'Anna School, who receives the prestigious Kuriki award for young professionals from the Electric Rocket Propulsion Society (ERPS). The globally significant award is given at the International Electric Propulsion Conference (IEPC), the most relevant international conference in the field of satellite electric propulsion, organized by the ERPS every 2 years in cities around the world.

The award, intended for the young researcher under 35 in the international community who has contributed most to the development of the field, is given in 2024 to Vittorio Giannetti with the following motivation: "For contributions to the development of electric propulsion systems, including gridded ion thrusters for BepiColombo, air-breathing electric propulsion, magnetically shielded Hall thrusters, and electrospray thrusters."

At the awards ceremony, which took place during the gala dinner of the Conference, scheduled for 2024 in Toulouse June 24-28, Vittorio Giannetti expressed his gratitude to colleagues with whom he has collaborated over the years. Special thanks for their support were extended to Mariano Andrenucci, a professor and pioneer in the field who recently passed away, and Tommaso Andreussi, head of the Research Area in Space Technologies.

Vittorio Giannetti said he was "honored" to have been selected for this prestigious award and commented on this achievement: "The recognition is a great encouragement to continue working with curiosity, responsibility and dedication in the field of electric propulsion."
